It is necessary to highlight the specific problems in the western Rajasthan when the project of MPOWR was undertaken. It is a desert area with very thin and scattered population, small helmets, with very poor road connectivity low literacy & economically poor region. Agriculture crops by & large depend on the rains where the drought situation is frequent, cattle raising – cow,

goats sheep & cows. Contacting people of the target groups and conducting meeting is a major problemS.

The MPOWR project was financed by the IFAD (International Fund for Agri. Development and Ratan Tata Trust= as a partner Inter se Agreement. The area allotted to our NGO was Block Sanchore of District Jalore where we worked in 19 gram panchyats, 61 villages. We Regular Activity Implementing 450 self Help groups (SHGs) of targeted womens. As many as 4653 women were given help in the areas of Agriculture, cattle raising, Non form sector activities to generate income to eliminate poverty. The basic & focus was on women’s empowerment & poverty alleviation. The main thrust was to improve the quality of the people by opening new horizons of development. The women’s groups were motivated and helped to start saving halts and attend regularly the meetings of the group. It was not possible without regular guidance by our field workers. Besides, the quality of training that was provided to these SHG’s .
